There are tons of different social events that take place around Nashville. If you are looking for an elegant social event to attend, the Sunset Safari at the Nashville Zoo is a must. This outdoor event is hosted at the Nashville Zoo and features some of the best food and entertainment that Nashville has to offer. You may not pin the zoo as a popular place for night life but on the night of the Sunset Safari the zoo transforms into an incredible venue. With tents, lights, drinks, and plenty of food, the Sunset Safari was a night to remember and I will definitely be returning.
What is the Sunset Safari at the Nashville Zoo?
It may not be entirely clear what the sunset safari at the Nashville Zoo is. When I first came across this event on the Nashville Zoo website, I was not quite sure what I was in for. Was this an event for kids? Was it an adults only thing? Are drinks going to be served? these were all questions I was asking myself as I considered whether or not to buy tickets. There is now a video on the Sunset Safari page of the Nashville Zoo website that does a great job of painting a picture of what this event looks like and what you can expect, however when I booked I did not know what to expect at all. Considering that I was about to spend over $100 on a ticket I was hesitant to book without knowing exactly what I was about to get myself into.
In the end, I am glad that I decided to go!
I had been to the zoo a number of times before this event but the whole place seemed different. There were no longer kids running around enjoying the animals, instead the zoo was packed with elegantly dressed young adults, middle aged adults, and older adults who were all excited to enjoy the event. The dress ranged from casual to business casual. There was a dance floor and tons of different caterers offering food samples. Along with the food samples there were plenty of drinks of all kinds available. I attended this event with a few of my friends and we had an absolute blast. Some animals made an appearance and overall the night was a great time.
I must say being in the zoo after dark was a bit strange but it was a unique experience that I will definitely be partaking in again. Here are some answers to the questions I found myself asking before I went to the Sunset Safari at the Nashville Zoo.
Is the Sunset Safari at the Nashville Zoo for Kids?
The first question I found myself asking was whether or not the Sunset Safari at the Nashville Zoo was child friendly. I often take my son to the zoo to see the different animals and being that the zoo is such a child friendly experience, I figured that the Sunset Safari may be an interesting experience for him. After having experienced the Sunset Safari at the Nashville Zoo I now understand that the target audience of this event is not children. It is a more of a mature event with live music, food, drinks, and socializing.
Can kids come to the Sunset Safari at the Nashville Zoo?
I have not seen anything that says children are not allowed to attend the Sunset Safari at the Nashville Zoo but I did not see any kids. Most of the crowd is made up of adults. The cheapest admission ticket to this event is $175 which in my opinion would be a bit pricy for child admission to an event that is clearly set up for an older crowd. While bringing your kids may not be the best choice, the Sunset Safari at the Nashville Zoo is a great date night opportunity.
Should I eat dinner before the Sunset Safari at the Nashville Zoo?
Another question I had was whether or not food and drink would be present. Of course I’m not going to go the whole night without eating but I did not know if I should plan on eating before the event started. Now that I have experienced the Sunset Safari, I know that you will certainly not be needing to eat dinner before the Sunset Safari at the Nashville Zoo. You will have unlimited access to food and drinks catered by some of Nashville’s top restaurants and caterers. There are plenty of different food options for you to choose from including entrees and desserts.
Can I see the animals during the Sunset Safari at the Nashville Zoo?
The zoo is a great place to see all kinds of interesting animals… we all know that. The question I was wondering was whether or not you would get to see animals during the Sunset Safari at the Nashville Zoo. You don’t get to see all of the animals in their exhibits but some animals do make appearances. I did not pay for the more pricy admission to the VIP area but apparently if you do you get to enjoy exclusive experiences with some of the zoo animals. Not sure what animals you get to experience but if it had anything to do with snakes I don’t want anything to do with the VIP tent.
